Here are some thing about Mario and Tamara. 1: They are awesome and laugh lots. 2: They love antiquing. 3: They are engaged and it was a great story, head to Tamara's blog to check it out and why the Harry Potter photos are so appropriate to this engagement session. 4: they introduced me to Mailing Road. 5: well, they are just beautiful and i'm grateful to have had time to play with them at this awesome time in their lives!
Mel and Ben walked into their favourite little wine bar and were greeted by a nice waiter guy who recognises them straight away
Waiter - You guys look great, why are you dressed up?
Mel - We are going to a wedding
Waiter - Great, I'll get you a winelist.
About 20 minutes later the waiter comes back and congratulates Mel and Ben because he just saw them get married in the winebar!
So as explained earlier, Mel and Ben didn't want the big fuss of a wedding. So one Friday afternoon they headed down to Harry and Frankie in Port Melbourne (Which is awesome BTW), met up with Melissa from The Ceremony Store and eloped. They were accompanied by a couple of glasses of sparkling, the bar manager and me. It's so special to be asked to witness the marriage and even get into a couple of photos.
A short simple to the point ceremony that was still filled with laughs and massive smiles from all of us. Then they checked their phones... and the cards had arrived. Lots of love from family ensued, the friends would have to wait a little longer... they were heading down to the bar to have a drink for Mel's birthday or so they thought!
Big hugs Mel and Ben!
Mel and Ben aren't the wedding type.
They are more the sneaky elope type.
So that is what they did and they way they did it was totally them, more about that in another post soon.
To announce their elopement to their friends and family they decided to send them a postcard which would arrive on the day they eloped. So they needed some photos for the cover of card that was fun.
We headed to the Larwill Studio, the latest in the Art Series Hotels for quick session. We set up a few little things that represented them and a few other things we discovered in the foyer. There was a stack on Penguin Classics about too, so I sifted through them all to see if there was anything appropriate to the situation... I think I choose well!
Stay tuned for later in the week on how these photos were used on their card and also the elopement itself
Ilona Stella doesn't seem like a wedding venue. It's in the heart of Balaclava on Balaclava Road, trams whizzing past, people everywhere looking for takeaway. But it is a really really great venue. Superb decor, food, drink and service make I a really brilliant little spot that seats more than you would think!
Lyndal and Josh choose to have their wedding here because Balaclava is their home, this is their favourite restaurant and it's just totally them. Sometimes the simplest ideas for weddings are just around the corner.
